Talk about starved for conversation...

Almost as bad as the SYBS thread. My real question is will it pop through the $13.xx price I shorted it at tomorrow when the market opens up a few hundred points?

But to venture an opinion in answer to your question I think BAANF simply faces a lot of competent competition in the US market and SAP is an overwhelming competitor in the European space.

You mention availability of consultants. I'd have to say this is a factor, but also, how many salespeople does BAANF have in the world compared to Oracle for example with 2000 salespeople, most of whom can participate in some way in selling apps. It is feet on the street and relationships for the big packages that often get the sale.

BAANF didn't establish the consulting relationships that SAP did in the states. It seems that often it is someone like Anderson or Price that ends up influencing the decision and they will of course end up recommending whatever their bench is deepest in. Sounds cynical doesn't it? The entire time I was at Oracle we only came up against Baan a couple times and never lost to them in the upper midwest where I was stationed. That isn't to say they never won deals there, but I'm not aware of any recent big Baan wins in the area. Lots of SAP, PSFT and ORCL deals on the other hand.

I am not as close to their technology as ORCL, SAP or PSFT so I wouldn't venture to say they necessarily have bad technology. What they do have tho, is bad marketshare and shrinking mind share. Thus the ROSS comparison I made earlier.
