evolution is not goal oriented.......... There are always two basic ingredients found necessary on both micro & macro level, food/energy source(s) & habitat zone(s), always changing, morphing as we see with those continental shifting, the resulting climatic changes.( But things tend to morph together)
Look at us , we've taken the conveyance of food/energy sourcings & mass consumption to some great extremes tapping into all animal & vegetable food chains. Neat trick to be so omnivorous for one, adaptable & migratory for two, we can thank the more recent evvolved kernel/seed bearing grasses largely for this success.
