I am all for the management. I think there is too much anti-Americanism around. The way it goes is that everytime America does something wrong it gets used by someone to fan the flames of anti-Americanism. Now here in the US we have a bias to believe the mistakes as "innocent" or "justifiable". This is only natural. As is the tendency on the other side to view them as intentional. Where does that leave us? We can't fight the world, despite what Bush may think. And no nation is an island. Talk like "Now America will pursue Saddam without further illusion about the citizenry in Western countries" and others like it are highly counter productive. The solution is to establish binding and impartial global institution. Instead of saying "UN is irrelevant" we should state clearly how it could be structurally changed to function better. Instead of saying we don't sign the World Court treaty because you guys are all bent against us, we should say this is how it can be a fair and functioning court and we'll sign it then.

PS Fair and functioning does not mean veto power for anyone

PPS I should have read the titles of the books discussed more carefully. My mistake.
