donsurber.blogspot.com Highlights of the News

Reading is fundamental. It also is a town in Pennsylvania.
ITEM 1: KTLA reported, "MS-13 Committed L.A. Area-Killings With Knives and Machetes, Cutting Out Victim’s Heart: Officials."
Obama's Dreamers strike again.
ITEM 2: The New York Post reported, "The president of Planned Parenthood said she was ousted Tuesday following a secret meeting of the board. Dr. Leana Wen was forced out after just eight months on the job."
An eighth month abortion.
ITEM 3: Fox News reported, "Escalating tensions on Capitol Hill erupted into a floor fight in the House of Representatives on Tuesday afternoon, as Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke in favor of a resolution condemning 'racist' comments by President Trump -- and Pelosi's words were eventually ruled out of order by House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, a Democrat, affirming a decision from the House parliamentarian.
"'The words used by the gentlewoman from California contained an accusation of racist behavior on the part of the President,' Hoyer said, in a decision that technically banned Pelosi from speaking on the House floor for a brief period of time. 'The words should not be used in debate.'"
The parliamentarian cited House Rule XVII, Clause 1(B) which remarks on the floor "be confined to the question under debate, avoiding personality."
You would think that after 32 years (and counting) in Congress that Pelosi would know the rules by now. As Barbie never said, parliamentary class is tough.
ITEM 4: Democrat Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib told Wolf Blitzer, "I think he’s the one who hates our country because I’m an American just like anyone else, and I can tell you this is a failed presidency. And he knows it. He has a failed border policy where right now there are children dying in our care."
She questioned the Make America Great Again president's patriotism over a policy dispute.
Democrats sit around the room with their staff and go over things to say in an interview to come up with clever things to say. This is what they come up with. This is how Hillary got stuck in the Basket of Deplorables, which was the worst thing a candidate said since John "Do You Know Who I Am?" Kerry said, "I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it."
By the way, Tlaib is the clown congresswoman who said we're going to impeach the MF.
ITEM 5: Politico reported, "President Donald Trump savaged the megadonor class during his 2016 campaign. Now, he’s turning to them to bankroll his 2020 effort.
"The Trump political machine raked in $108 million for his campaign and the Republican National Committee during the second quarter of the year, and the massive haul was fueled in no small part by some of the Republican Party’s biggest givers, according to filings released Monday evening.
"An array of donors forked over six-figure checks, and more than a dozen gave Trump Victory Committee — a joint fundraising venture with the RNC — the maximum allowed, $360,000."
Every flipping person who runs for president savages the megadonor class. Name someone who praised them.
And every one of them accepts the money.
Also, the New York Times reported, "Trump Campaign Invests Big in Small Donors, and Reaps Rewards."
People all over the world join hands, start a Trump Train, Trump Train.
ITEM 6: The Washington Times reported, "The Senate confirmed President Trump’s 43rd circuit court nominee Tuesday, far outpacing his predecessor who only saw 19 federal appeals court judges appointed during the same period of time.
"The confirmation of Judge Peter Phipps to the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals also puts the president ahead of President George W. Bush, who saw just 30 appeals court judges appointed in his first two and a half years in office."
In March, President Trump flipped the 3rd U.S. Circuit to conservatives with the confirmation of Judge Paul Matey.
Judge Halil Suleyman Ozerden awaits confirmation to the 5th Circuit.
ITEM 7: Axios reported, "President Trump's racist tweets had an unintended consequence: They gave House Democrats a new rationale for impeachment.
"Why it matters: This has the potential to fundamentally change the conversation around impeachment, which has so far mostly focused on possible instances of obstruction of justice as laid out by Robert Mueller's findings."
Oh, please impeach him for the high and hideous crime of twittery on the high seas.
Meanwhile, there is no immigration reform and no other bipartisan legislation coming out of the House.
She heads a Do Nothing But Whine House. The question for next year is becoming: will Republicans top their 63-seat flip of the House in 2010?
ITEM 8: The Washington Post reported, "If President Trump makes of fun of his age or questions his mental state during a debate, Joe Biden has a response at the ready: He'll challenge him to do push-ups on stage."
I thought Joltin' Joe was going to beat him up behind the gym.
Plugs the Plagiarist also stole the idea from Jack Palance at the 1992 Oscars.
ITEM 9: Axios reported, "The number of immigrants waiting on a judge to decide whether they can stay in the U.S. keeps climbing, according to Justice Department data.
"Why it matters: Immigration-court backlogs 'are basically crippling the whole system,' Georgetown Law professor and former immigration judge Paul Schmidt told Axios."
That is a pretty neat trick. Overrun the border with false requests for asylum. and then complain that an overloaded system is taking too long to process the claims.
ITEM 10: Politico reported, "House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested tonight that she and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin may be within striking distance of a two-year agreement to avoid billions in automatic spending cuts and a calamitous default on the nation’s debt.
"'We have a clear understanding of what we want to agree to and I think that’s progress,' the California Democrat told reporters after speaking to Mnuchin on the phone. The two plan to talk again on Wednesday after days of ongoing negotiations.
"'We’ll have an announcement about something soon one way or another,' she told reporters."
It will increase spending and raise the debt ceiling through 2021.
Mnuchin has to sell it it to the president. She has to sell it to Congress. He has the tougher job.
ITEM 11: Reuters reported, "Support for U.S. President Donald Trump increased slightly among Republicans after he lashed out on Twitter over the weekend in a racially charged attack on four minority Democratic congresswomen, a Reuters/Ipsos public opinion poll shows."
Racially charged?
Calling everything racist neutered the word.
