Ouch for sure but no harm done in the long term. I guess that is why I am doing some asset reallocation now. The best offense is a good defense here.


Actually, there was some harm done as asset allocation went to less in stocks and then missed a few hundred points if I read old MTs correctly. Not that big a deal, but a buy-n-hold strategy would have done better. Take those 200 or so points missed, from 1800 level, and look at money missed compared to staying in a buy-n-hold and the dollar amount is significant.

Maybe we are missing out on significant gains by going to a lower asset allocation now, but I sure get light headed at these lofty valuations and so I take profits to sleep well at night. Mr GJ makes a great argument and I wonder if it is time for a half page in MT to address individual allocations?

PS regarding the naysayer....I come here mostly to read your writing and some of the other posters like this discussion initiated by MrGreenJeans. IF others start to slam you, it just makes it easy for me to click "Next"....
