It was a coal mining town..... As you hear so often of the old days, we never locked our doors, in fact we never had a key for the doors. That was true for the entire neighborhood... But because the town was laid out in a perfect grid, Thomas Edison built a generating plant and wired the town as the first in the country to have electric street lights.....for the same reason we were among the very first to have cable TV....was the only way to get a picture.
