Frankly, it's the need for this sort of doctrinzation which to me is the Achilles heel of Christianity. I frankly see no point at all in such discussions as that of the Catholic Encyclopedia on the IC

and believe that it interferes with the basic substance and truth of Christ's message. I was a senior administrator for a year in a Presbyterian seminary, and got an inside look at the amount of time that was spent on technicalities of doctrine and the amount that was spent on living a life according to Christian principles. It made Buddhism look very attractive.
