the move between the next to last paragraph and the last one is the entire game to me.

After reading "From Beriut.." I have a lot more respect for Friedman's analysis, but I read this column as a "Cop Out," frankly. He is really saying, "If Saddam does not leave we need to take him out," but he does not come out and say it. Too bad. It reduces my respect for him.
