Petz, Re: Meanwhile 5 quarters of Hammers will have already been sold before the first "P4+Yamhill" is sold.

In the first quarter of the Athlon introduction AMD sold 200,000 units (Q3 '99). In the second quarter 800,000, then 1,2 million, 1,8 million and 3,6 million to a total of about 9 million units after five quarters. If that's any indication for the Hammer ramp, AMD will not have been shipping more than ten million Hammers by 2004. I think Intel could catch up extremely fast once they have their design ready. Just take their P4 ramp as an example. If they had to start from the scratch it would be different but in this scenario I don't see a big advantage for AMD, only a small one if they can actually deliver their roadmap schedules. And it's IMO still a big question mark if AMD will actually ship Hammers this year.
