>Someone asked about the G4 and G5 PowerPCs. (Apple's) Hickey said the G4 is in final silicon and the G5 is in blueprints. However, for the foreseeable future, Apple's computers will be based on the G3. Hickey mentioned how computer users were becoming irate because new technology makes current technology obsolete within a few months. (He used the Pentium/Pentium II as an example.) Apple apparently doesn't want to alienate their customers. The implication is that the company is backing off immediately accepting new technologies and trying to regulate the pace with which these new technologies come to market.<
