It's make or break time, IMO. Telus is taking the necessary steps. The Clearnet acquisition is expensive, but you have to have that stuff. Let's face it, the sector is in tremendous flux. Long distance is going to be free in no time. Even if Telus makes all the right moves, there's no guarantee that they'll survive against the 400 lb. gorilla down east. OTOH, if they do, you'll definitely want to have a piece of it. I've held the stock since the IPO, and the risk/reward situation has changed night and day since then. Back in the AGT days, it was pretty simple to wrap your head around the business. Not being in the industry, I don't have the expertise to make informed judgements -- things are changing too fast. That makes it tough. You know that one of Telus or BCE is going to come out on top, and you probably need to have the winner in your portfolio. But it feels more like speculation than investing.
