Emulex Corp. Licenses Palmchip Corp.'s CoreFrame Architecture for System-On-Chip Solutions
COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 1997--Emulex Corp. (Nasdaq:EMLX), a leading manufacturer of network printing, fibre channel, and network access products, Wednesday announced that it has licensed the Palmchip Corp. CoreFrame Architecture for use in high performance system-on-chip designs. This relationship will enable Emulex to accelerate the design of new ASIC devices for use in advanced networking products in conjunction with its ARM RISC processor-based network access engines.
CoreFrame provides a high performance on-chip interconnect architecture which allows silicon functional blocks to be combined together with "plug and play" simplicity. This enables designers to assemble and verify complete system-on-chip devices quickly and easily which shortens product development cycles and enhances time-to-market.
"Palmchip's CoreFrame Architecture dramatically reduces system-on-chip design time and will enable Emulex to accelerate new product development," said Jeff Freeman, senior marketing director for Emulex. "CoreFrame is optimized for high bandwidth, data intensive applications and provides Emulex with an advanced on-chip architecture for use in new high performance products for the networking and fibre channel markets."
"Palmchip is pleased to be working with Emulex, a recognized leader in the network printing, fibre channel, and network access markets," said Jauher Zaidi, Palmchip president and CEO. "The adoption by Emulex of Palmchip's CoreFrame Architecture is a significant step towards establishing CoreFrame as the preferred on-chip architecture for today's high performance system-on-chip designs".
