It's no wonder why the Europeans laugh at us in general. We tend to think of ourselves as so great yet we are so misguided and herded by false expectations and illusions.

True. I've been to Europe a few times. In a lot of ways their cities blow ours away; can't blame them for laughing at stupid arrogant Americans. Even something as simple as the subway system is far superior in a city like London, where trains are carpeted and electronic boards tell you when the next train arrives. France makes Paris its crown jewel and invests a ton of money into it. Paris really is a beautiful city.

What do we do for our capitol (Washington, DC) or our world financial center (NYC) or our western commercial center (LA)? Not much in comparission. Of course, these are also the places where most of our military recruits come from. I don't think it's any mistake that the cities are neglected by the American government. They don't want to make life too easy on the inner city residents. Who's going to want to get on a plane and reek havoc in the Middle East if they're living comfortably in the U.S.?

Oh, how I wish we could change this downward spiral we've been on for decades.
