The RSI is based on a rolling aperature and it could be pegged low and move plastically as the underlying symbol continues to decline. I can understand comparing RSI values close to each other to make shorter term decisions, but I would be chary of using it to call the bottom.

But the 73-74 stock levels haven't been visited since then. We seem to be more oversold than even 82 - the death of stocks stories. I think we must be near a significant low then - at least in terms of price.
