It's worse than you think. I'm older than you are.

On the other hand, I worked at a jazz club called the Tin Palace from late '78 through 1980. It was 1/2 block up the street from CBGB, at Bowery and 2nd Street. Before that I worked at a punk club called the Mabuhay Gardens in San Francisco. So I knew about the punk scene.

Don't worry. You're not hopelessly unhip. Certainly, if you didn't know the Ramones you are unhip, but probably not hopelessly so. :-)
