I'm sure it is much cheaper, but we get back to the RAS and scalability issues, along with the I/O capabilities provided by the channel subsystem in S/390 I/O. I think the very high end and mission critical apps such as the stock market will be in IBM's and Tandem's hands for some time to come... John
