Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe today said neither his organization nor John Kerry´s campaign leaked to CBS documents questioning President Bush´s service record, which may have been forged. He suggested White House adviser Karl Rove could be behind the documents

ROFLMAO! Karl Rove must be having a good week! His reputation will be invincible by the time this campaign ends, and all for stuff he didn't need to lift a finger to achieve - the Swiftboat Vets and the Kerry Kamp turning into the Keystone Kops.

Let me see if I have McAuliff's story straight: Karl Rove wrote up memos purporting to be from George Bush's TANG CO. In these memos, George Bush disobeyed orders and was a slacker son of privilege. When Karl Rove created these documents, he didn't forge them cleverly - no, no, he made sure to forge them as crudely as possible. He just typed them up on his computer and photocopied them a few times. He knew the Democrats would be so despearate for this new insubordinate slacker story that he didn't need to bait the hook with anything good, they would swallow it hook, line and sinker. Then, when they did, the very crudeness of the forgeries would make it easy to unmask them...

If Karl Rove could count on the Democrats being this stupid, he would scarcely need to resort to such subterfuge, I think.

What did Mark Steyn call the Kerry campaign? "A bore that is degenerating into a laughinstock." Prescient as usual.
