There is a huge difference between a police man or a swat team outside the scene (without knowledge of what they would encounter) and a teacher on the inside who came face to face with the murderers trapped in that no way out situation.

Perfectly correct choice, but obviously it wasn't enough.

The job is not the same job.

In case of a fire I would expect a teacher to grab a fire extinguisher and use it if a fire broke out in their area, which is not the same job I would expect the fire department to perform when they arrive. ... because teachers are there and they can in most cases eliminate the threat of the building burning down, even though it is not the normal job description of 'teacher.'

The job of the teacher in an emergency is safety and self defense when called for.

So which would you rather have if you were a Columbine student hearing shots coming down the hall ... a SWAT team waiting outside until they got the all clear or a group of armed and qualified teachers standing in the ready between you and the Kleabold/Harris team. It is, after all, not a choice between one or the other, we can have both. Do you think Kleabold and Harris would have been as bold in entering the different school areas if they knew there could be teachers ready to shoot back?
