SMART Modular Technologies to use Lucent WildWire.

smartm.com

SMART's product incorporates WildWire ADSL communications chip set technology from Lucent Technologies Microelectronics Group. SMART is using Lucent's recently announced WildCard? technology, a new system-level offering that is part of the company's WildWire product family. WildCard will provide PC and standalone modem users with the flexibility to send and receive high-speed Internet data over regular phone lines between standards-based, digital modem equipment currently deployed in the majority of telephone company central offices in the United States.

"Lucent's WildCard solution is like a master key that is opening wide the doors to the DSL world," said Craig Garen, general manager of the Client Access business unit within Lucent's Microelectronics Group. "SMART's use of this offering shows the progress being made toward higher-speed, broader Internet access for consumers over regular phone lines. SMART is a leading provider of modem solutions, and we're excited to be working with them."
