Winnipeg, MB, Canada, Nov. 02, 2000 (Resource News International via COMTEX)
-- WINNIPEG, MB, November 2, 2000 (RESNEWS)- Canadian economic reports scheduled
for release on Thursday include the October business conditions survey.

In October, production and employment prospects for the fourth quarter remained
positive, but a growing number of manufacturers reported concern with the
current level of orders, Statistics Canada said.

Manufacturers were still positive about production prospects in October, but
slightly less than they were in the previous three surveys. Concern about the
current levels of new and unfilled orders continued to increase. Even so, they
did not expect this to lead to reductions in employment levels during the fourth
quarter.

The Canadian dollar was stronger on Thursday morning and was trading at C$1.5311
(65.26 US cents) at 8:55 CT. This compares with Wednesday's North American
settlement of C$1.5339 (65.19 US cents).

Economic data tabled for release on Friday include the October unemployment rate
and the October foreign reserves change. There on no releases yet scheduled for
released on Monday. On Tuesday, the September building permits are released.
