(OTCBB: FONX), a leading provider of human-user interface technology
and voice solutions for wireless and mobile devices, Internet and
telephony systems, and vehicle telematics, will exhibit its line of
voice and human-user interface solutions and unveil the 5.0 version of
the Fonix FAAST framework at the annual SpeechTEK Conference on
Nov. 2-3 at the New York Hilton & Towers, 1335 Avenue of the Americas,
New York.
Fonix will introduce the FAAST Text-To-Speech (TTS) 5.0 framework,
a new version of the industry-leading Unlimited Vocabulary TTS and
Customized Vocabulary TTS Engines. FAAST version 5.0 offers
multi-channel per TTS process capability for highly scalable,
cost-effective server implementations, and now includes both female
and male voices.
Additionally, FAAST 5.0 provides prioritized soundbank selection,
and audio manipulation including pitch, speed, and volume.
Fonix participation in the SpeechTEK Conference provides a
showcase for the company's speech technologies, development
environments, and its increased involvement in the rapidly advancing
speech technology market with all of its current and potential
applications.
The FAAST framework allows developers to deliver voice and audio
connectivity between intelligent devices including wireless handhelds,
PDAs, servers, desktop computers, cell phones, consumer appliances,
and automobiles.
The Fonix SpeechTEK Conference booth will offer demonstrations of
a full range of Fonix-related applications and solutions including
speech recognition and text-to-speech. Furthermore, Lynn Shepherd,
vice president of Product Engineering at Fonix, will represent Fonix
on a panel of experts for the Embedded Systems presentation Friday,
Nov. 3, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The FAAST 5.0 TTS is currently available for Microsoft Windows
95/98, NT, ME, and Windows 2000 operating systems and will be
available on several Unix platforms including Linux. Fonix FAAST 5.0
showcases a feature-rich TTS Development API set that allows consumers
to integrate Text-To-Speech without difficulty. The FAAST API supports
C++, Java, and ActiveX, and is compliant with SAPI 4.0.
The FAAST 5.0 product is expected to ship November 2000.
