Peter,

I've been pretty quiet around here for a while. Anyone who has read my posts on SI from time to time will see that I'm not the most loyal fan of Datek OnLine, but I have always tried to be objective. I'm still a customer because I haven't found anyone who is obviously doing better.

I'd like to take this opportunity to point out a major flaw in Datek's way of doing business. I have followed Datek's instructions in the past, submitting issues via personal email, and waiting weeks upon weeks for a response. The last one I got was from someone who obviously hadn't read my original note in the first place, and that was about six weeks after the fact. It was insulting!! I agree with your position that we refrain from personal insults. I have tried to do that, and to date I think it is fair to say that as a result I have been pretty much ignored by your customer service department. The simple fact is the only way to get Datek's attention and to have any input is to flame them, or at least agitate in a public forum.

Now you are here taking a poll on an issue of concern to all Datek customers, using an medium that has no official connection to your customer base, available only to subscribers to SI at the tune of $125, or $200, or whatever the registration fee is now, without any direct notification to your customers. This is unconscionable.

Datek says they want to be the best. Rise above the rest of the crowd and start paying attention to your customers using a forum that is appropriate to address their individual concerns.

Dan
