PSIX - PSINet released earnings today beating analysts estimates but warning that 4th quarter results would fall below expectations. PSINet posted a loss of $182 million, or 95 cents a share. Analysts had been expecting a loss of $1.28/share. Including one-time charges, the company loss $1.4 billion, or $7.34/share.

They also announced the resignations of President and Chief Operating Officer Harold Wills. The company also said that their 80% stake in Xpedior(XPDR) is being classified as a discontinued operation, and the Company has recorded a $663.8 million expected loss on disposal.

Analysts had been expecting the company to report a loss of $1.23 cents/share in the 4th quarter which they warned in their earnings release that they would miss. Analysts are not happy with this quarters results. Kaufman Brothers analyst Vik Grover commented "the company will have to put itself up for sale or get its act together by year-end." Shares of PSIX have been cut in half, now down 52.67 percent or 3 35/64 at 3 3/16.
