It all goes back to original sin. Honest to God we ( mankind) just cannot help it. We sin. We are sinful. We need a Savoir/ Our only hope is Christ in that He starts us on the right pathway and creates in us a new creation. In Christ, the "work of redemption" is ongoing however the "act of redemption" at Calvary was final in that it paid for all sin past present and future.
