I think you could get by pretty well with regular curry, just add a bit more crushed red pepper to the soup... you don't really taste the curry, it blends into the mix, I happen to use the hot Jamaican curry because it's readily available here... if I didn't know the difference, I don't think it would make much difference in this recipe... it might make a big difference in other dishes, but not for this soup.....<g>
