You're confusing 'fighting dirty' with 'rejoicing in death and destruction'. Not at all. I think you're ignoring that fighting dirty is a long continuum with terrorism on the nether end. Perhaps we are so fat, dumb, and happy that we cannot imagine ever being the position of having to fight really dirty? People who want liberty do not fight by killing schoolchildren because those means would destroy the very ends they seek. That does not logically follow. If we are in the process of losing our liberty as Americans to some horrible foreign conqueror, killing as many of them as we can by any means necessary cannot be said to rbring on the loss of our liberty. If it works, then it will salvage our liberty. We will be the poorer for it culturally, particularly if we sink to the level of reveling in it, but we will be free of them. We will be at liberty to flagellate ourselves for it later and atone for it later, just like we do for our country's earlier atrocities. You cannot do that once you've been conquered and wiped out. Conquered and wiped out is the definitive end to liberty.
