Will he be foreced to recant? Probably not. Despite the mounting evidence, he has gone with this "definitive evidence" defense. Without the originals, and looking only at multiple copies, it's impossible to say definitively that they are forgeries. Without the originals, it's impossible to prove that they were produced by a laser or inkjet printer rather than a typewriter ribbon.

You have not been paying attention. In the handwriting expert's book (Mately?) the statement is: without the originals you cannot confirm legitimacy, but, you can absolutely prove forgery.

Barring bizarre behavior by Adobe (the PDF generation step) the kerning absolutely proves these are forgeries.

Step back and enjoy the irony, Rather is going to wind up being responsible for getting two Bushes into the White House. The elder by an attack interview which gave a foil to show he was not a "wimp", and now the younger by foiling any further attempt to bring up National Guard issues.
