Voop,
First, let me say that I am not an expert in RTOS, Linux, nor the technical issues related to porting Linux to an RTOS. And I don't know how compatible the current Linux applications will be for the different RTLinuxes out there.
What I was saying is that WRS should NOT port Linux to VxWorks, because VxWorks is getting support from application developers, and the market is not asking for Linux compatibility.
If we did add Linux to VxWorks, that will make Linux the critical link between applications and the hardware, not VxWorks. Because there could be a number of alternatives out there, such as QNX/RTLinux, Lynx/RTLinux, or XYZ/RTLinux. This will make VxWorks expendable, which is bad for us. In fact, Lynx is working on this. For a 2nd tear player, this might be something worth trying. For us, we are the dominating platform. It would be unwise to relinquish it.
