I wont delve into the topic of whether or not this action is in accordance with the NATO treaty, Neocon has made more than sufficient effort to make that area clear enough.

However, your insistance that NATO's charter obligates itself to seek UNSC approval for action is nonsense. To obligate oneself to seeking the approval of your enemy to resist that enemy's aggression is ludicrous, and note that the USSR had veto power over any and all UNSC resolutions. Your claim that the NATO charter requires UN approval to act is without basis.

Yes they are our only agreements. And it is fairly indicative of the worth of that institution for enforcing those agreements when it can not stop even mere brutality upon a civilian population, as in Kosovo. In short, except when a situation is politically uncharged, the UN is a deadlocked and irresponsive body that can do nothing save perhaps bluster.
