Ft. Hood Soldier gets 3 years for shooting friend in head to cure hiccups By David Edwards Friday, February 1, 2013 10:11 EST A 27-year-old Fort Hood soldier on Thursday pleaded guilty to accidentally killing his friend while trying to cure a case of the hiccups. Spc. Patrick Edward Myers’ rank was reduced to private and he was sentenced to three and a half years in military prison, according to NBC News. Friends were drinking and watching a football game at an apartment in Killeen in September when Myers tried to cure the hiccups of 22-year-old Pfc. Isaac Lawrence Young by pointing a gun to his head and pulling the trigger to scare him. Meyers said that he believed the gun had been loaded with dummy rounds.
