There is no question that Schwab is a formidable competitor, as is E*Trade. E*Trade is clearly the more dynamic of the two companies (which doesn't mean that it will be more successful--sometimes dynamnism can lead to mistakes), and I'm very comfortable where I'm at. Time, as always, will tell.

Indeed.... at this point, as we observe the increase in competition given the entry of Merrill and others, into the discount/on line arena, I think it will be interesting to see, possible "consolidations"...

So from that new perspective, perhaps the smaller brokers may become targets for acquisitions.... will it be so ? I do not know, but it would be worth considering and watching it closely.
