That is not true most Workers Comp is provided by private insurers, In most states the only thing the government provides is the legal mechanism for enforceing the claims. Some of these State run programs work well and others don't. The Longshoreman's Program which is enforced by the Federal government works well in Maryland but from what colleagues are saying not so well in other places.
