just as in business if one brings a problem to the boss, one needs to bring a solution for the problem. there is no way a leader just brings problems or raises questions, without offering one or more solutions that he would try.

this ny times article is another example of kerry's lack of understanding of leadership or just lack of leadership -- or both. i still think the best thing kerry's advisors could do for him would be for them to say, "now remember john before you publicly raise an issue or problem with the bush administration, ask yourself what spencer tracy would do. then tell the people that is what you would do, but don't say anything about spencer!!"

kerry's response to the north korean thing is not spencer tracy-like. "When Mr. Kerry was pressed about how he would handle the threat of a North Korean nuclear test if he was in the Oval Office, he declined to be prescriptive, other than to say that the issue would probably have to be taken to the United Nations Security Council."
