My advice is that you don't listen too much to people pushing some obscure stock. (This usually means they own that stock and are trying to raise the price by coaxing everyone else to buy it). Also, the fact that a stock "was" trading at a certain level doesn't mean that it will rise to that level again.

Also, how willing are you to lose your $1500 ? If losing most of it has an impact on your college career, don't put it into the market. Two years may not be enough time to take a loss and then recover from it.

If this is play money, go for it.
