I have recently come back from Europe, and "NINE" is hot! I don't have any numbers on it but for what I saw, number nine graphic cards are the choice. I went into various stores, specially in Spain and for what I saw and could get out of the guys working there, they can't ship them fast enough. It seems that Number nine has done a good job of convincing these guys that their video cards are the best, at least from the technical point of view. The only problem that they see and I do share the same view with them is that the cards are expensive and they have a hard time convincing clients that Number nine cards are better and will not become obsolete with time. In france a similar thing happened, they all viewed the cards technologically better but price was an issue with some clients. However, for the little research I could do, I found out that computer buyers in europe know more about computer than we americans do. My reasoning behind that is that european computer buyers in general are still upper income, like in the U.S five years ago, and usually know english which is a major advantage for all those companies shipping their products and technicall data in english. Also European buyers know more technical stuff than we do, remember most of them had to learn to use computers that at the begining were using OS and software that was in english only, thus they spent a lot of time reading manuals and technical information that we usually took for granted or overlooked. The only problems that I see with nine, is the shortage of DRAM's in the market and the high price of some of their products. I still think NINE is a buy, specially now that in the last days it has been going up a bit. I have a question to everyone out there, do you know if CAD users must use the higher end video cards like the 128bit? thanks |
