It makes perfect sense for mining companies and rebel forces (and vice versa) to communicate and try to resolve conflicts before the fact in political turmoil as mining is the cornerstone of most economies. This is particularly true in countries such as Zaire.
No mining, No economy. No economy, No hope.

As to semi-conductors (of which I know very little) Some newly developed magnet materials are an alloy of cerium - cobalt, and I understand these hybrid magnetic materials are used in semi-conductor research. Whether this will impact the demand for cobalt remains to be seen. (anyone with a greater technical expertise in this area is welcome to enlighten us)

Regardless of market blips and investor confidence, the Canadian junior mining and exploration companies are the best in the world when it comes to the business of finding ore bodies. Technological advancements in the tools of exploration are progressing rapidly and all these things help in the quest. Every little bit helps. The rapid advancements in Geophysics seem to make the biggest impact on our industry. Canada is a vast country with many underexplored terrains.
When the junior miners focus their expertise in our own backyard good things happen (ie. Voiseys Bay, Raglan, Diamet, et al). However, this being said, it is sometimes easier to raise public capitol to explore an iffy prospect in some far off place with a strange sounding name then to raise a dime for a great prospect here at home
in Canada. Go figure.

Thank you for your wishes of good luck in our explorations.
We'll gladly accept any luck we can get.
