I understand what you are saying, but this vaccine isn't just to prevent people from getting HIV/AIDS it also cures people who already have it. According to the literature I read.

It could be approved for this application much sooner than preventive uses because obviously if the people in the trials who formerly had HIV/AIDS no longer have it, it works.
