Just noticed this thread--even though it is a little old.
PNC is a great growth stock with strong position in its region(PA and NJ+). I recently saw it on a list of strong take-over canidates(I think in the S&P review you can get from Fidelity). I think it is much better than a sitting around stock but not for high-fliers. Put it in a DRIP and give your kids a great present in ten years.
