VSE Awarded $54 Million Prime Contract by 'IHD/NSWC,' Indian Head, Maryland

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jun 3, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- VSE Corporation (Nasdaq: VSEC) announced today that it has been awarded a cost plus fixed fee, multi-year support contract by the Indian Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (IHD/NSWC) at Indian Head, Maryland. The contract represents potential VSE revenues of $54 million over a base year and four one-year options.

The new contract is for technical services in the performance of facility and equipment explosion decontamination and decontamination certification world-wide.

The Indian Head Division has been tasked to provide explosive and energetics decontamination, demilitarization, demolition, and associated engineering support for the Navy, other DoD, and non-DoD customers. VSE, along with a unique subcontractor team of subject matter experts, will provide engineering and technical services to analyze requirements, perform site assessment, provide data analysis and management, and support program management.

VSE support includes testing and certification to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and directives from planning stages through execution and completion of the decontamination, demilitarization, demolition, and disposal process. The support effort includes environmental compliance planning, scheduling, coordination, execution, and supervision, documentation, and physical removal of explosive residue from equipment and buildings.
