Securing e-business in Japan
Foreign companies are seizing opportunities in Japan's emerging e-commerce arena, particularly in providing infrastructure for the business-to-business market. CyberSource Corp. (CYBS: news, msgs), a San Jose, Calif.-based pioneer in Internet fraud detection, has taken a controlling stake in a joint venture with local Net incubator Trans-Cosmos Inc. and trading house Marubeni Corp. (MARUY: news, msgs). The new venture, Cybersource K.K., aims to make online business operators in Japan aware of security issues, improve countermeasures against unauthorized access and develop products and processes for confidential communication and authentication.
"The Ministry of International Trade and Industry recently disclosed reports of growing fraud on the Internet," noted Masataka Okuda, managing director of Trans-Cosmos. "We look forward to working together to lay down a broadly available, secure e-commerce infrastructure that is already in use in other parts of the world." |
