... If someone comes at you intent on rape and/or murder, a call box will not save you.

If someone comes at you intent on rape and/or murder, why would you think a “safe zone” would be safe?

If someone comes at you intent on rape and/or murder, how is a whistle going to save your life?

All of these things (except maybe for a “safe zone”) might be helpful for people who don’t want to carry a gun for self defense, taking the option away from women basically leaves them defenseless. What should a woman do when approached by a rapist and there is no call box nearby? What if there is no one close by to hear a whistle?

But most of all, why is it acceptable for the party that claims to be the champions of womens’ rights to promote legislation based on a philosophy that women should be rendered defenseless when faced with a physical attack?

During the debate over the Democrats’ health care bill, Democrats repeatedly said that the Republican position was that if people get sick, then they should just hope that they get better.

When it comes to gun control, the Democrats’ position seems to be that if you are faced with an attacker, you should blow your whistle, and kiss your ass goodbye.
