NEWS: Two huge explosions hit Riyadh

RIYADH, Dec. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Two huge explosions hit the Saudicapital of Riyadh Wednesday evening, security sources said. A car bomb went off near the Interior Ministry as militantsfailed in forcing their way in, and the explosion left some windowsof the building shattered.

The second car bomb, detonated about a half hour later, rattleda training compound of Saudi security forces in the capital. There were no immediate reports on casualties after the twinbombing attacks.

Saudi security forces have cordoned off nearby roads asambulances and police rushed to the scene.

Earlier in the day, the Interior Ministry said police killed onemilitant and wounded another in a shootout in the capitalovernight.

The two terror suspects were reportedly on the list of 26 mostwanted terrorists, with nine of them still on the run. The latest attacks came after militants stormed the US consulatebased in Jeddah on Dec. 6, during which five non-US staff werekilled.

The kingdom, the world's top crude exporter and the birth placeof al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, has been witnessing a series ofattacks orchestrated by al-Qaida linked militants since May 2003. Dozens of foreigners and more Saudi police and security forceshave been killed since. Enditem
