Regarding the MCI announcement. WOW!!!!!!!!

>>"- Is this the same Matsushita that is part of the LS-120 consortium? ">>

Trakker, read the announcement, posted by Roy Snodgrass (#6998).
Relationship between MCI & MKE are disclosed there.

This MCI announcement is great great news which took me by total surprise.
With this single deal, IOMG could 1) effectively kill the LS120 by providing MKE
with a better and bigger pot of honey, 2) greatly enhance the chance of Zip
being accepted everywhere and becoming a standard, 3) alleviate any doubts
in the minds of current and future OEMs on Zip supplies for possible demands
in tens of millions per year, and 4) win over MCI/MKE as big friends vs. having
then as big & strong opponents (two Japanese companies with vast resources
and great presence behind any standard PC storage media - a great concern
of mine to have them as Iomega competitor.) - This deal will definitely kill the
LS120 consortium, IMO. Compag and Imation are definitely not smiling.

Next thing you know, Compag will include Zip in their PCs, and Imation will
make Zip disks.

First, it's Seagate. Now it's MCI/MKE. I never thought Seagate would
be supplying Jaz disks, and I certainly never thought that MCI/MKE
would consider making and selling Zip - given their strong tie to the LS120
development and marketing. The fact that MCI/MKE decided to go with
this deal spoke volume for Zip acceptance around the world.

Wow! What can I say. The Iomega management folks are a bunch of genius!
It's fun just trying to predict and anticipate their next moves.
