My point is that normally republicans tell people to pull themselves up by their own boot straps. Why then did we feel the need to go and do for the Iraqis what they were not able or willing to do for themselves?

I hear republicans complaining about the price tag of helping to rebuild the gulf coast. Why does the federal govt have to foot the bill for the regions own lack of foresight? Iraqi's you'll help, but not our own people?
