Where is Hillary Clinton?
Where is Bill?
Where is Mario Cuomo?
Where are the Kennedies?
If the peak oil people are not crazy, within 2 years after peak hits -- which means within 5 years of today -- we will see inflation that will make Germany in 1923 look like a holiday, the devaluation of the US dollar, real estate and stock market crashes, dramatic unemployment, and the rise of radical political parties as the populace gradually wakes up to how badly our traditional parties have failed us and comes to all the wrong conclusions.
Where is Carter, who understood all that better than anyone?
Where was Al "ecological" Gore? Talk about "Global Warming"? IS HE NUTS OR JUST STUPID?
Someone has to be shouting we need to reduce the speed limit to 55 mph TODAY. People need to abandon their SUVs on the highway TODAY. Just walk away from them -- give them up. The lines that produce the at GM must be shut down TODAY -- by GM if it has any balls, or by government action or by pickets storming the plant led by a modern day Martin Luther King or led by Al Gore if he had any testicles. IF WESTERN CIVILIZATION IS REALLY AT STAKE AS WE ARE TOLD IT IS, WHAT THE FUK IS WRONG WITH EVERY BODY -- WHATSAMATTER YOU TV ZOMBIES, TOO BUSY WATCHING LAW&ORDER RE-RUNS???
Why are the loudest voices on peak oil conservative Republicans like Roscoe Barlett and Matt Simmons?
Hey, really there's no cause for alarm. All you need is a stream --- some nice source of clean water, and an acre of land. Then:
1. Dig a hole so deep you won't have worry about heating in the winter.
2. Buy a wind-up victrola and many 78 RPM records.
3. Buy 50 years of canned goods, antibiotics, and silver coins for rare visits outside.
4. Lock the door to protect yourself from a world of proven idiots and hope they are no so stupid as to start nuclear bombing each other to reduce the population, which would be one sure way of making the oil for their SUVs last longer.
5. Hang your 1960s peace button on the wall and look at and hum Jefferson Airplane tunes sometimes, and hope you are found dead that way someime in a few hundred years: give the anthropologists something to think about.
Martha she keeps her heart in a broken clock and it's waiting there for me; She weeds apart through a token lock; What a great thing to be free; She weeps time, starts unspoken, but when the gate swings there she'll be, There she'll be: in green sun, on blue earth under warm running shower.
