You may be right Paul. I was repeating a rumour heard from
a DEC employee. It may hold water if the context of
NT/Alpha/32bit/C-code is taken into account. If the NT/Alpha C/C++
environment does not take advantage of native Alpha floating point
capabilities then I could believe it.

Until some sort of formal benchmark is published we won't know.

You seem pretty certain that the rumour is not true - care to
fill us in on the details ?
