I just ran across a brief reference to VTEL in an article from VARBusiness about Anixter Inc:

>>>Forty years old and bigger than $2 billion, Anixter Inc. counts 60,000 customers in its database, 5,600 employees worldwide, 180 sales and service locations, $400 million worth of product inventory and $2.5 billion in total sales. Its VAR revenue of $1.7 billion earns it 18th place on this year's VARBusiness 500 list...

...Despite its size, Anixter has decided to focus on core strengths rather than compete with more horizontal service companies such as IBM Global Services and EDS Corp. The Chicago-based company bills itself as a "value-added provider of integrated networking and cabling solutions that support business information and network infrastructures." That has meant establishing close ties to key suppliers including Bay Networks Inc., Digital Equipment Corp., Fore Systems, IBM Corp., Intel Corp., Lucent Technologies Inc., 3Com Corp., U.S. Robotics and VTEL Corp.<<<

Not much, but I like the group they're included with.
