Recordable CD's are very popular. Manufacturer's suggested price for most is $9 to $12. What I've been noticing at Office Depot is that they are selling fast. Office Depot carries 5 brands. Usually 3 brands are sold out and only a few higher priced ones are available. Also, They sell at $2 HIGHER than manufacturer's suggested price.

You can only write once. This means if you screw up during writing, your CD is NO GOOD and you need to buy another one. They are very popular for archiving and for pirating. Why spend $80 on software (in CD format) when you can copy it $10 to $15 dollars. Early software manuacturers were ging to CD because if was cheaper than Disk and not copyable. That has change.

BTW, the ability to copy large files fast is also one of the Big selling points of ZIP and JAZ. I don't condone pirating, but that is one of the big uses.
