Much of this is a matter of opinion. Allen! Please don't say that! That's what all coders think and it's sent a LOT of businesses down the drain. I worked for one. Dynamite product, 43 Million in venture capitol. Brilliant coders. Brilliant execs with multiple doctorates in their fields. Giant corporations pre sold on the product. But they were ignorant and arrogant about usability which they considered to be a matter of opinion and the "artsy" stuff. They refused to user test it before releasing it, which I recommended twice. When they did release it, the users instantly rejected it as unusable. They all went to their competitors. The internet market crashed. Venture capital was pulled and within a week they were done for. Read this: Designing Visual Interfaces: Communication Oriented Techniques amazon.com and you will FOREVER change your mind about it being a matter of opinion. It's strongly scientific and backed by facts. It was an eye opener to me in many ways. Apple is and was the best but they've made some really BONEHEADED mistakes.
