Interesting Paper on WIND & Intel at "Internet ConneXion" web site. I bookmarked this site quite some time ago because of an interesting paper I saw on Cisco. Just checked back there the other day and found that they've added a three-part paper on WIND and Intel entitled "Is There a Future for Windtel?". The URL is www.ixix.com I don't know anything about the author's credentials and wasn't able to glean much from the web site; however, I found the paper interesting and would appreciate any comments from the folks on this thread. Brief summary: The paper discusses Intel's plans to "commoditize the network industry." The author believes that WIND can beat Microsoft in a"Wintel/WINDtel" war for networking hardware if they will focus on competing with themselves rather than becoming preoccupied with competing with Microsoft. If successful, WIND could be to networking hardware what Microsoft is to desktop hardware. Also, there's a discussion about potential suitors if WIND were to be acquired...
